The Fenix CL30R is an extremely powerful rechargeable lantern that can be used to illuminate a room, campsite, tent or workbench. The high-brightness LEDs hidden under the cylindrical diffuser provide up to 650 lumens (ANSI) of light with a neutral shade of white light and last up to 300 hours. The CL30R is powered by three 18650 li-ion batteries with a capacity of 2600 mAh (included), which charge directly in the lantern via a micro-USB connector. In case of an emergency, the lantern can be powered by only one or two batteries (the lighting time is reduced proportionally) or six disposable CR123A batteries. The lantern offers a total of six lighting modes and is equipped with a charge status indication. The lantern is also equipped with a USB output, so it can be used as a powerbank for charging other USB devices (warning: not compatible with newer mobile phones that support higher charging current than 1A).
Thanks to its durable and shockproof construction with IPX-7 protection, the lantern is waterproof to a depth of 1 meter. The top of the lantern is equipped with a tab for hanging. The fixing options are further extended by a tripod thread on the underside of the lantern.
All lantern parameters (luminous flux, battery life, waterproofness, range and shock resistance) are measured in accordance with ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009.
Fenix CL30R rechargeable lantern specifications
- The light source is a high output SMD diodes with neutral light tint.
- Six power modes:
- Measured with the included 18650 Li-ion battery with 2600 mAh capacity: 650 lumens: (4.5 hours)-> 350 lumens (9 hours)-> 100 lumens (38 hours)-> 50 lumens (70 hours)-> 10 lumens (300 hours)-> 100 lumens (70 hours)-> flicker.
- Measured with 18650 Li-ion battery with 3500 mAh capacity: 650 lumens: (6 hours) -> 350 lumens (12 hours) -> 100 lumens (51 hours) -> 50 lumens (93 hours) -> 10 lumens (400 hours)-> 100 lumens (93 hours) flashing.
- Digitally controlled for constant output.
- Three 18650 batteries with 2600 mAh capacity are already included, 18650 batteries with protruding plus pole can be used as spares (batteries with flat-top plus pole are not compatible). In case of an emergency, the lantern can be powered by only one or two batteries (light time will be proportionally reduced), six disposable CR123A batteries can also be used.
- Charge via micro-USB connector.
- USB output 5 V for charging other portable electronics with USB charging. Please note: not compatible with newer mobile phones that support charging current higher than 1A.
- Freeze-resistant design, the batteries are well insulated against low temperatures, so the lantern can be used even in temperatures well below zero.
- Protection against accidental insertion of batteries in reverse (reverse polarity).
- The lantern has a memory and always switches on in the last set mode (not valid for flashing).
- Made of aluminum alloy and durable plastic, the lantern is shockproof against falls from a height of 1 meter.
- Waterproof to IPX-7 standard (submersion to a depth of 1 m for 30 minutes). The lantern floats on water, so you won't drown it.
- An omnidirectional diffuser produces a wide, uniform cone of light with a range of up to 35 meters.
- Top side with hanging tab, bottom threaded for tripod mounting.
- Dimensions 9.3 cm (diameter) x 13.6 cm (height).
- Weight 556 grams including batteries, 412 grams without batteries.
- Package includes lantern, three Fenix 18650 2600 mAh batteries, spare o-ring and USB cable.
- The lantern can also be purchased with USB mains adapter, USB car adapter.
Using the Fenix CL30R
From manufacture there may be an insulating cap inside the battery lantern, please remove it before first use.
To turn on or off, hold the side button down for approximately 1 second. The five power levels are toggled by pressing it, the flash is activated by pressing the button twice quickly.
Battery capacity indication - when the lantern is switched off, a short press of the button activates the four status LEDs on the top. The number of lit LEDs indicates the approximate level of charge of the batteries (less than 35%, 36-60%, 61-85%, more than 85%). When the batteries are almost depleted, the lantern automatically switches to lower power modes and the status LED starts flashing.
Charging
To charge the lantern, flip off the rubber cap of the micro-USB connector. Connect it using the included USB cable to your computer, USB network adapter or USB car adapter. A standard mobile phone charger with a micro-USB connector can also be used for charging. During charging, the four status LEDs on the top flash, and after a full charge they all light up permanently.
The batteries do not suffer from memory effect, so they can be recharged at any time and there is no need to wait until they are depleted. Charging fully discharged batteries takes approximately 8.5 hours (depending on the strength of the charging source used).
During charging, the lantern can only be lit in 100 lumen mode.
To power external USB devices (powerbank function), connect the cable to the USB connector of the lantern.
Warning
- Do not disassemble the sealed parts yourself, it will violate the warranty.
- If using disposable CR123A batteries, do not attempt to charge them in the lantern.
- Never mix different types and capacities of batteries in the lantern.
- If the flashlight is flickering, not switching to higher power modes, or not lighting up, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- The batteries are almost dead – charge them.
- The electrical contacts are dirty – clean them with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol.
Warranty
Five year warranty on lantern, two year warranty on batteries.
