Tip2: Are you looking for a high-power rechargeable 18650 battery flashlight with red light? Check out Fenix HM61R Amber!
Fenix HM50R V2.0 is the second generation of the popular rechargeable headlamp with output up to 700 lumens, 115 meters range and red light. For power supply, either a Li-ion battery RCR123A (it is included in the package) or a disposable battery can be used CR123A (with limited max. output to 130 lumens). The battery RCR123A can be recharged via the USB-C connector directly in the headlight. The light source is a top LED Luminus SST-20 with a daytime light shade (6000 K). An indicator diode is also built into the control button on the side of the headlamp, which shows the battery charge status when pressed.
The headlamp is also equipped with a function to extend the duration. During prolonged use gradually reduces power in small steps to achieve a longer lighting time (see runtimes graph). The all-metal construction ensures high resistance, optimal cooling and at the same time is fully waterproof according to the IP68 standard up to a depth of 2 meters underwater. The practicality of the headlamp increases the possibility of removing the light from the head holder and using it as a small flashlight. The Fenix HM50R V2.0 headlamp is the ideal companion for a variety of sports activities, trips to nature, home and work.
All parameters of the flashlight (luminous flux, battery operation time, waterproofing, range and impact resistance) are measured in compliance with the ANSI/ NEMA FL 1-2009.
Fenix HM50R V2.0 headlamp parameters
- A powerful Luminus SST-20 LED (6000K) and two red Everlight LEDs are used, all with a lifetime of 50000 hours.
- Four white light modes: 700 lumens (1 hour) -> 400 lumens (3 hours) -> 130 lumens (8 hours) -> 30 lumens (42 hours).
- Two red light modes: 5 lumens (60 hours) -> red flashing 5 lumens (120 hours).
- Smooth light cone with range of up to 115 meters (3350 cd)
- Electronics with function of extended lighting time gradually reduces power in small steps.
- Protection against reverse insertion of batteries.
- For power it uses a single Fenix Li-ion battery RCR123A 700 mAh. which is included in the package.
- In emergency, one disposable 3V lithium CR123A battery can also be used for power supply, but the highest available mode will be 130 lumens.
- Convenient control with one electronic switch on the side of the headlamp.
- The headlamp remembers the last set power mode (only applies to white light).
- Battery charge status indication.
- Strap with reflective elements.
- The cleverly designed holder also works as a buckle if you remove the headlamp from the strap.
- The headlamp can be rotated in the holder in a wide range and thus set the desired lighting direction.
- Made of an aluminum alloy with a hard-to-scratch surface - Type III hard anodized.
- Impact resistant to drops from a height of 2 meters.
- Dustproof and waterproof according to the IP68 standard (tested under water at a depth of 2 meters).
- Headlamp dimensions including holder: 6.4 cm x 3.6 cm x 3.2 cm.
- Weight 78 grams (including battery and straps).
- Package includes headlamp, head strap, buckle, spare o-ring, Fenix ARB-L16-700P 700 mAh battery and USB-C charging cable.
- A case Fenix APB-20, main strap, and a set of black straps without reflective elements AFH-02 can be purchased. Suitable, for example, for hunting, the army or the police.
- After removing the headlight from the holder, holders can be attached to the handlebars
Using of the Fenix HM50R V2.0 headlamp
From the factory, there may be a black insulating cap inside the flashlight on the battery. Before first use, remove it from the battery.
- When the headlamp is off, it will turn on to the last used white light mode by holding down the button for 0.5 seconds.
- A switched-off headlamp is turned on into a red light by pressing the button twice quickly.
- When the headlamp is on, it is turned off by holding down the button for 0.5 seconds.
If the headlamp is switched on, short presses of the button can cyclically switch power modes in the order of 30 - 130 - 400 - 700 lumens (when switched on to white light) or red - red flashing (when turned on to a red light). The flashlight has a memory and will always turn on in the last set mode (only applies to white light).
Protection against overheating: Operation at the highest mode is limited to 1 minute, after which the output gradually decreases to approx. 500 lumens within 5 minutes. If the internal temperature of the lamp rises above 60°C, it will automatically start to further reduce the power in gradual steps until the temperature stabilizes. As soon as the temperature of the lamp drops below 60°C, the power will gradually increase again.
Battery charge status indication: After a short press of the button (headlight must be switched off), the LED indicator in the button is activated. If the indicator diode is green, the battery is charged to more than 80%. Green flashing means 50-80% capacity. If it glows red, it is 20-50% charged. Blinking red means less than 20% battery capacity is left. The indication works correctly only with rechargeable RCR123A / 16340 batteries.
Charging: Unfold the rubber cover of the charging connector and plug the included cable into the flashlight (USB-C connector), plug the other end of the cable into a computer, power bank or USB adapter into the mains or car (not included in the package) ). The side button lights up red while charging and turns green when fully charged. After charging the flashlight, seal the charging connector again with a rubber cap. Charging a fully discharged battery takes about 1.5 hours. In an emergency, the flashlight can also be used while charging, but only the lowest white mode and red modes will be available.
Discharged battery warning: If the battery voltage drops below the set level, the headlamp will automatically switch to lower power modes. If the headlamp is already switched to the lowest power mode and the battery is critically discharged, the indicator in the button will start flashing red. However, the headlamp will continue to shine until the battery is completely discharged. Note: the low battery warning is only calibrated to the voltage of rechargeable Li-ion batteries.
Locking the headlamp against unintentional switching on: Loosen the battery cap of the headlamp by a quarter turn, this will break the electrical contact and the headlamp cannot be switched on. The button can also be locked electronically – with the headlamp off, hold down the button for 3 seconds. After locking, the flashlight flashes red. To unlock, hold the button for 3 seconds again.
Warning
- Do not disassemble the sealed parts yourself, this will void the warranty.
- Use only high-quality batteries to avoid damage to the flashlight, for example due to leakage of substances from the batteries.
- Remove the batteries from the flashlight if you are not going to use it for a long time or if the batteries are already discharged. Otherwise, some low-quality batteries may damage the headlamp.
- If the headlamp flashes, does not switch to higher power modes, or does not light up, it may be for one of the following reasons:
- Batteries are almost dead – replace them.
- Headlight lock is enabled – tighten it.
- The electrical contacts are dirty – clean them with a sponge dipped in alcohol.
Warranty
Five-year warranty on the headlamp and two years on the battery.
