Fenix HM70R is an extremely powerful rechargeable headlamp that offers a luminous flux up to 1600 lumens. The package also includes a rechargeable Li-ion battery type 21700 with a capacity of 5000 mAh, which is charged directly in the headlight via USB-C connector. The headlamp is equipped with several light sources, the long-distance reflector contains a LED Luminus SST-40, which shines up to a distance 186 meters. The second wide reflector is fitted with LED Cree XP-G2 HE with a warmer shade (neutral white) with 400 lumen output, which has a very wide and continuous light trail. The headlamp also has a red light with power of 5 lumens. With this color, it is able to shine on the lowest mode for almost 17 days and can flash continuously for over 33 days.
The light aluminum alloy construction ensures high resistance, optimal cooling and at the same time is fully waterproof according to the IP68 standard up to a depth of 2 meters underwater. The Fenix HM70R headlamp is an excellent choice for anyone who demands top performance and extreme battery life. Cyclists, speleologists, mountain guides, ski alpinists, climbers, rescuers, but also industrial workers and ordinary tourists or fishermen will definitely appreciate it.
All parameters of the flashlight (luminous flux, battery operation time, waterproofing, range and impact resistance) are measured in compliance with the ANSI/ NEMA FL 1-2009.
Parameters of the Fenix HM70R rechargeable headlamp
- A powerful Cree XP-G2 HE LED with a neutral shade, a Luminus SST-40 LED with a daytime shade of white light and two complementary red Everlight 2835 LEDs with a life of 50,000 hours are used.
- Spotlight: 1600 lumens (4 hours) -> 500 lumens (6 hours) -> 150 lumens (30 hours) -> 30 lumens (100 hours).
- Floodlight: 400 lumens (8 hours) -> 70 lumens (48 hours) -> red 5 lumens (400 hours) -> red flashing 5 lumens (800 hours).
- Luminous flux and duration times are measured with the included Li-ion 21700 battery with capacity 5000 mAh.
- The long-range reflector creates a cone of light with a 186 meter (8667 cd) range, the wide reflector shines up to a distance of 38 meters (352 cd), the red light has a range of 5 meters (8 cd).
- Electronics with digital regulation, protection against reverse battery insertion and protection against overheating.
- It uses one 21700 Li-ion rechargeable battery for power, which is included in the package. In case of emergency, one Li-ion battery 18650 can be used, but it is necessary to purchase a reduction ALF-18.
- Memory of the last set power mode of the high beam spotlight (except when it turns off in the highest mode, then it turns on in the second highest mode next time).
- The headlamp can be rotated in the holder in a wide range and thus set the desired lighting direction.
- Made of strong aluminum alloy with hard-to-scratch surface - Type III hard anodized.
- Waterproof according to the IP68 standard (tested under water at a depth of 2 meters).
- Headlamp dimensions: 9.45 cm x 5.1 cm x 4.6 cm.
- Weight 206 grams (including battery and strap).
- Impact resistant to drops from a height of 2 meters.
- Toughened ultra clear glass lens with anti-reflective surface.
- Package includes headlamp, Fenix 21700 5000 mAh battery, USB cable, head straps and spare o-ring.
- A cases Fenix APB-20 and Fenix APB-30 can be purchased with the headlamp, or a USB power adapter and a USB car adapter, main strap, top strap.
- For easy attachment to the helmet, you can purchase the Fenix holder ALG-03, ALG-04.
Using of the Fenix HM70R headlamp
From manufacture, there may be a white insulating cap inside the flashlight on the battery. Before first use, remove it from the battery.
- Powered off headlamp will turn on in the last used high beam mode by holding down the button for 0.5 seconds (except when turned off in highest mode, then next time it will turn on in the second highest mode).
- When the headlamp is turned off, it turns on to the red wide reflector mode with a quick double press of the button.
- When the headlamp is on, it is turned off by holding down the button for 0.5 seconds.
- When the headlamp is on, you can switch between the high and wide reflectors by holding down the button for 1.2 seconds. It is not possible to start both beams at the same time.
If the headlamp is switched on, short presses of the button can cyclically switch power modes in the order of 30 - 150 - 500 - 1600 lumens (when the spotlight is switched on) or red 5 lumens - white 30 lumens - white 400 lumens - red flashing (when switching on the wide reflector). The flashlight has a memory for the spotlight and will always turn on in the last set mode (except when turned off in the highest mode, then next time it will turn on in the second highest mode). With a wide reflector, it always starts in a red light.
Battery charge status indication: After a short press of the button (headlight must be switched off), the LED battery charge status indicator in the button is activated. Green light means the battery is 85-100% charged, flashing green light 50-85%, red light 25-50%, flashing red light less than 25%.
Locking the headlamp against unintentional switching on: Loosen the battery cap of the headlamp by a quarter turn, this will break the electrical contact and the headlamp cannot be switched on. The button can also be locked electronically – with the headlamp off, hold down the button for 3 seconds. After locking, the flashlight flashes red. To unlock, hold the button for 3 seconds again.
Protection against overheating: If the temperature of the headlamp exceeds 65°C, it will automatically reduce the power in gradual steps until the temperature stabilizes. As soon as the temperature drops below 65°C, it is possible to use the highest performance modes again.
Discharged battery warning: If the battery voltage drops below the set level, the headlamp will automatically switch to lower power modes. If the headlamp is already switched to the lowest power mode and the battery is critically discharged, the indicator in the button will start flashing red. However, the headlamp will continue to shine until the battery is completely discharged. Note: the low battery warning is only calibrated to the voltage of rechargeable Li-ion batteries.
Charging
Unscrew the waterproof nut on the side that covers the USB-C connector. Plug the charging USB-C cable into the headlamp and its other end into the USB connector of the computer, USB network adapter or USB car adapter. Any mobile phone charger with a USB-C connector can also be used for charging. The side button lights up red while charging and turns green when fully charged. The charging time of a fully discharged battery takes about 4 hours. The used Li-ion battery does not suffer from a memory effect, so the headlamps can be recharged at any time. After charging, tighten the waterproof nut again. It is possible to use the headlamp while charging, but only the 150 lumen spotlight mode is available.
Warning
- Do not disassemble the sealed parts yourself, this will void the warranty.
- If the headlamp flashes, does not switch to higher power modes, or does not light up, it may be for one of the following reasons:
- The battery is almost empty – charge it or replace it.
- Headlamp lock is enabled – tighten it.
- The electrical contacts are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
Warranty
Five-year warranty on the headlamp, two years on the battery.
