Rechargeable headlamp Fenix HP16R has a total output up to 1250 lumens and two light cones, while a spotlight with top LED Luminus SST-40 creates a well-focused light beam with throw up to 260 meters and the second reflector with powerful LED Cree XP-G3 S4 has a beam that is very wide and smooth up to a distance of 48 meters. The luminous flux of the spotlight is up to 1250 lumens, the floodlight offers a maximum output of 400 lumens and a neutral shade of light. The controlling of both LEDs are independent of each other, the light from both reflectors can be arbitrarily combined and thus achieve a short-term luminous flux up to 1250 lumens. The long-distance reflector offers four lighting levels and three wide. In addition, the headlamp is equipped with a red LED with an output of 5 lumens, which can be used to send an SOS signal in an emergency.
One Li-pol battery is used for power supply ARB-LP3000 with capacity 3000 mAh , which is included in the package and is charged via a modern USB-C connector. This battery is located in a case on the back of the head, so the headlamp is well balanced on the head. If necessary, it can be replaced with four regular AA batteries, with which, however, the maximum output is limited to 800 lumens and cannot be charged in the headlamp.
The headlamp is made of hardened aluminum and durable plastics, its construction is fully dustproof and waterproof according to the IP66 standard and also resistant to falls from a height of 2 meters . At the same time, it is equipped with a endurance extension function. During prolonged use of individual light modes, the headlamp gradually reduces power in small steps to achieve a longer lighting time.
The HP16R headlamp replaces the older version of the HP15, and thanks to its high performance and durability and the possibility of using pencil batteries, it is suitable for everyone who wants to have a strong and reliable partner in the gloom and darkness in extreme conditions. It will serve great at work, for example, for rescuers and other professions, but also for athletes, mountain climbers, tourists and outdoor enthusiasts.
All parameters of the headlamp (luminous flux, battery life, waterproofing, range and impact resistance) are measured in compliance with the ANSI/ NEMA FL 1-2009.
Fenix HP16R headlamp parameters
- The light source in the wide reflector is a white Luminus SST-40 LED, the source in the wide reflector is a Cree XP-G2 S3 with a neutral shade of light, and the red Everlight 2835 LED is also available. All with a lifetime of 50,000 hours of light.
- A total of nine performance modes:
- Spotlight: 1250 lumens (4 hours*) -> 400 lumens (8 hours*) -> 150 lumens (12 hours) -> 50 lumens (36 hours)
- Floodlight: 400 lumens (8 hours*) -> 150 lumens (12 hours) -> 5 lumens (300 hours)
- Red light: 5 lumens (300 hours) -> red flashing SOS 5 lumens (600 hours)
- Spotlight for a perfect light cone with 260 meters (16933 cd).
- A floodlight with a beam up to a distance of 48 meters (583 cd).
- * During prolonged use of the two highest light modes, the headlamp gradually reduces the power in small steps to achieve a longer lighting time
- Uses Li-pol battery Fenix ARB-LP3000 (included in the package).
- Charging via USB-C connector, charging time for a fully discharged battery is approx. 3 hours.
- Alternatively, four AA batteries (alkaline, lithium Energizer L91 Ultimate Lithium or NiMH chargers). However, these batteries cannot be charged in the headlamp and the maximum output with them is limited to 800 lumens.
- The switches are protected against unwanted switching on in luggage.
- The battery is located in a separate case on the back of the head, so the headlamp is well balanced on the head.
- The reflector can be tilted in a few steps and the team can set the desired lighting direction.
- Made of durable plastic and aircraft hardened aluminum.
- Impact resistant to drops from a height of 2 meters.
- Dimensions of the headlamp including holders: 6.2 cm x 4.7 cm x 3.2 cm
- Dimensions of the battery case: 7.3 cm x 6.9 cm x 2.5 cm
- Weight 216 grams (including straps and battery), 152 grams without battery.
- Waterproof and dustproof according to the IP66 standard (spraying with strong streams of water from all directions).
- Hardened ultra clear glass lens with anti-reflective surface for long distance reflector.
- The package includes a headlamp, USB-C charging cable, ARB-LP3000 battery, four clips Fenix ALD-02 for attaching the headlamp to the helmet, transport bag, spare o-rings, cable clips.
- A case Fenix APB-30 and a set of black straps without reflective elements AFH-02 can be purchased for the headlamp, main strap, top strap.
Using the HP16R headlamp
There may be an insulating cap on the battery from the factory. Remove it from the battery before first use.
The spotlight is switched on by holding down the right button (approx. 0.5s), the wide reflector or the red light is turned on by holding down the left button (0.5s). Pressing the right button cycles through the long-range reflector modes, pressing the left button switches between the wide reflector and red light modes in the following order: white 5, 150, 400 lumens, red 5 lumens, SOS signal. Both reflectors are turned off by holding down the corresponding button, and after turning off the headlamp remembers the last set mode (except for turning off in the highest mode of the spotlight, then next time it will turn on in the second highest mode). Both reflectors can be switched on at the same time.
Battery charge status indication - After a short press of any button (headlight must be switched off), the LED indicator of the battery charge status between the buttons is activated. If the green light is on, it means the battery is 85-100% charged, if the green light is flashing, it means the battery is 50-85% charged. If the red light turns on, the battery is 25-50% charged, and if it starts flashing, the battery is critical and the headlamp is less than 25% charged.
The control buttons can be locked to prevent spontaneous activation, e.g. when transported in luggage - in the off state, press both buttons and hold them for at least 3 seconds, then the headlamp will flash red to indicate lock. To unlock, you need to hold both buttons again for three seconds.
Protection against overheating - if the temperature of the headlamp exceeds 65°C, it will automatically reduce the power in gradual steps until the temperature stabilizes. As soon as the temperature drops below 65°C, the performance will gradually increase again.
Discharged battery warning - when the voltage drops below a certain limit, it automatically switches to a lower power mode, if the battery status indicator starts flashing during lighting, the battery is almost discharged.
Charging - unfold the cover of the USB-C connector on the battery case and plug in the included charging cable, plug the other end of the cable into a computer, power bank or USB power adapter or USB car adapter (not included in the package). During charging, the LED on the battery case glows red. When fully charged, it will stay green. Charging a fully discharged battery takes about 3 hours.
Warning about low batteries - the headlamp gradually automatically reduces the number of available performance modes. When the batteries are completely discharged, only the lowest mode will be available.
Warning
- Do not disassemble the sealed parts yourself, this will void the warranty.
- Only use the Fenix ARB-LP3000 battery or high-quality AA batteries to avoid damage to the flashlight, for example due to leakage of substances from batteries.
- If using disposable AA batteries, remove them from the headlamp if you are not going to use it for a long time or if the batteries are exhausted. This will prevent them from leaking and subsequently damaging the headlight.
- If the headlamp flashes, does not switch to higher power modes, or does not light up, it may be for one of the following reasons:
- Batteries are almost dead – replace them or charge the battery.
- The contacts in the battery holder are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
Warranty
Five-year warranty on the headlamp, two years on the battery.
