The ultra-powerful Fenix LR50R rechargeable flashlight brings an extreme light output of up to 12,000 lumens (ANSI) and a range of up to 950 meters. It achieves its performance with the help of four powerful Luminus SST-70 LEDs with a lifespan of 50,000 hours of lighting, which are powered by an internal high-current Li-ion battery with a capacity of 57.6 Wh. The battery is charged directly in the flashlight via a modern USB-C connector. The flashlight offers control using two buttons, which separately control the constant lighting modes and flash modes.
The flashlight is equipped with indicator LEDs that show the battery charge status. In addition, the flashlight can also be used as an emergency power bank to charge other USB-C devices. The body of the flashlight is also equipped with a tripod thread, so it can be mounted on a tripod and used as a stationary light. Despite its enormous power, the flashlight retains a surprisingly compact size, measuring just 16.3 centimeters in length and weighing 980 grams including the battery. This searchlight is particularly suitable for rescue and reconnaissance operations. However, it is also perfectly suited for surveillance of large objects or for all flashlight enthusiasts.
All flashlight parameters (luminous flux, battery life, waterproofness, range and shock resistance) are measured in accordance with ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009.
Fenix LR50R flashlight specifications
- Light source is four high-end Luminus SST-70 LEDs with a 50,000 hour lifetime.
- Total of 8 lighting modes:
-
- Constant modes: 12000 lumens (1.80 hours) -> 6000 lumens (2.30 hours) -> 3000 lumens (2.60 hours) -> 1000 lumens (7.60 hours) -> 350 lumens (24 hours) -> 50 lumens (58 hours).
- Flash modes: strobe (6000 lumens) -> SOS (350 lumens).
- It uses a high-current Li-ion ARB-L52-16000 battery with a 16000 mAh/3.6 V (57.6 Wh) capacity to provide power. In an emergency, it can also be replaced with 1-4 separate 21700 Li-ion batteries but the highest modes will not be available with them.
- Charging via USB-C with support for PD3.0/PD2.0 fast charging protocols, QC3.0/QC2.0. Charging time 4.5-16 hours depending on the power of the power supply used.
- Digitally regulated for constant brightness and with overheat protection.
- A proximity sensor in the reflector automatically reduces power to 50 lumens when the flashlight gets closer than about 6-8 inches to an object (prevents damage to the object from strong light and glare from reflected light).
- Aluminum reflector offers a range of up to 950 meters (225,750 cd)
- The electronics are equipped with a protection function against too deep battery discharge, automatically switching to a lower power mode when the voltage drops below a certain threshold.
- The flashlight has a memory and can be switched on in the last set mode (not valid for flash modes).
- Battery charge indication (only functional when using the original Fenix ARB-L52-16000 battery).
- Dimensions 16.3 cm (length) x 6 cm (body diameter) x 8.8 cm (diameter at reflector).
- Weight 980 grams (including battery).
- Made of aerospace hardened aluminium, the reflector is completed with striking rim.
- Scratch resistant finish - Type III hard anodized.
- Resistant to falls from a height of 1 meter.
- Waterproof and dustproof to IP68 standard (tested underwater at a depth of 2 meters for 30 minutes).
- Hardened ultra clear glass lens with anti-reflective surface.
- Light-beam threads with increased wear resistance.
- Capable of standing alone on a flat spot and serving as a candle.
- Body is threaded for mounting on a tripod.
- Substantial knurling over the entire surface of the flashlight for better grip.
- Package includes the ARB-L52-16000 battery, USB-C charging cable, belt pouch, lanyard and replacement o-rings.
- The flashlight can also be purchased with QC3.0 USB mains adapter and USB car adapter and colour USB-C cable.
Using the Fenix LR50R searchlight
From manufacture, there may be an insulating cap on the battery. Please remove it before first use.
Holding the right button for 0.5 seconds will turn the flashlight on to the last set light mode. Subsequent presses to switch between power modes, holding the button again turns the flashlight off. Holding down the left button switches the flashlight to the highest mode of 12000 lumens, further presses of the left button activate the strobe and then the SOS. Back to the last continuous light mode can be accessed by pressing the right button.
The control buttons can be locked to prevent spontaneous switching on, e.g. when transporting in luggage - in the off state, press both buttons and hold them for at least 3 seconds, then the flashlight will flash to indicate locking. To unlock, both buttons must be held down again for three seconds. Unintentional switching on can also be prevented by loosening the flashlight body.
Charging - flip off the rubber cap of the charging connector and plug the cable into the USB-C connector in the flashlight. The indicator LEDs will flash from left to right to show the charging status. Only the 50 lumen mode can be turned on while charging. When charging is complete, seal the connector thoroughly with the rubber cap. Not only common USB adapters and power banks can be used for charging, but also fast charging adapters with PD3.0/PD2.0, QC3.0/QC2 protocol will be automatically detected.
Charge external USB-C devices (powerbank function) - flip off the rubber cap of the USB-C connector and connect the device you want to charge with a suitable USB cable (only USB-C devices can be charged with the supplied cable). To activate the powerbank function, you need to briefly press one of the
Battery charge status indication - After briefly pressing any button, the indicator LED will light up for 8 seconds to show the battery charge status (flashlight must be off). Four lit LEDs indicate the battery is 80-100% charged, three lit 60-80%, two lit 40-60%, one lit 20-40% and one flashing LED indicates the battery is less than 20% charged. The indication is only functional with the original battery.
Intelligent overheat protection - when the temperature exceeds 60 °C, the flashlight will automatically reduce the power in small steps up to 3000 lumens, after cooling down the power will increase again automatically. Operation on the highest Turbo mode (12000 lumens) is time limited to 20 seconds, after which the flashlight will reduce power to 8000 lumens for 60 seconds. If the second highest setting (6000 lumens) is selected for longer than 60 seconds, the output then reduces to 4000 lumens within 60 seconds.
The proximity sensor in the spotlight will automatically reduce the output to 50 lumens when the flashlight gets closer than about 6-8 centimeters to an object (prevents damage to the object from strong light and glare from reflected light).
Warning
- Do not disassemble the sealed parts of the flashlight yourself, it will violate the warranty.
- If the protective rubber rings appear damaged after prolonged use, replace them. The rings should also be lubricated to prevent erosion of the rubber. By following these rules, the flashlight will be properly protected against water.
- If the flashlight is flickering, not switching to higher power modes, or not lighting up, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- The battery is low, charge it.
- The contacts inside the flashlight are dirty – clean them with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol.
- Body is loose, tighten it.
Warranty
Five years warranty on the flashlight and two years on the battery.
