The Fenix ARB-L14-2200U rechargeable battery serves as a replacement for classic AA batteries. Inside is a Li-ion cell that features regulating electronics that hold a solid 1.5V output voltage for first 70-80% of capacity and then hold constant 1.2V until discharge. The battery is therefore particularly suitable for devices that are sensitive to voltage levels and, for example, do not work properly with rechargeable NiMHs, or only works for a short period of time. The capacity of the battery is 2200 mAh (3.3 Wh which corresponds to a capacity of 2750 mAh for NiMH).
The battery can be charged only via the built-in USB-C connector, so it can be charged from a computer, a mobile phone charger, a power bank or other USB source. It cannot be charged in a conventional charger.
The battery also has built-in protection against complete discharge and short circuit (maximum continuous discharge current is about 3 A). The battery is therefore suitable for example for cameras, navigation, laboratory instruments and other devices. The battery is also compatible with all Fenix headlamps and flashlights on AA batteries. These include Fenix E12, Fenix E20, Fenix LD12R, Fenix LD22, Fenix HM23, Fenix HP16R.
When using this battery, it should be taken into account that you cannot reliably know the remaining capacity by the output voltage. During the first 70-80%, the voltage is still constant at 1.5 V and only after that it drops to 1.2 V under load. It depends on how the instruments evaluate the voltage reduction from 1.5 V to 1.2 V when the remaining battery capacity drops to 20-30%. In any case, when the battery is fully discharged, its voltage suddenly drops from 1.2 V to 0 V.
