How to choose a worklight
1.2.2024
The Fenix brand focuses on products for the industrial segment in addition to hiking, sports and tactical flashlights. Whether you are a car mechanic, electrician, plumber or other professional and need a portable work flashlight or headlamp for quality work, you can choose from a wide range of durable, dust and waterproof lights in a practical design and premium quality. Fenix flashlights are portable, always on hand and won't let you down in any situation.
Mounting flexibility is one of the basic requirements for work lights (headlamp/torch HM71R in the pictures).
Plumbers and heating engineers
For your work you need a flashlight with a spot light to check details and joints. For close work and even illumination of larger areas, a headlamp with a soft light of a warmer shade with a truer colour rendering is perfect. Even the smallest leaks can be detected with UV light. Of course, the high resistance to drops as well as to dust and water, the uncompromising quality and components used and the variable attachment keep your hands free for work.
Selected recommended flashlights:
- Fenix HM61R Amber V2.0 - a headlamp with a warmer shade of light, it detaches easily from the straps and serves as a handheld flashlight with a magnet in the end for attaching to anything metal.
- Fenix WT16R - flashlight for attaching to magnetic surfaces, sharper beam for details, diffused light for even illumination.
- Fenix PD35R - flashlight with a strong center for illuminating details.
Some Fenix flashlights allow for both sharper and diffused light

Automechanics
A magnet in the end of the light allows it to be attached to the hood of a car, for example. The head rotation can help to illuminate places where you would not normally get with a light. A spotlight will show the details and a wide reflector will illuminate larger areas evenly, such as the chassis. The UV light is useful for leak checks or fluid analysis.

Electricians, maintenance workers
For a great working experience, a flashlight with a warmer shade of light, or one with infinitely adjustable chromaticity, comes in handy. Such light distorts colours less. A spotlight is suitable for checking details. For illuminating surfaces and working environments, a wide reflector is suitable. Again, a flexible attachment (magnet, head strap, wrist strap) is advisable to keep the hands free.
Selected recommended flashlights:
- Fenix HM51R Ruby V2.0 - a lightweight headlamp easily detaches from the straps and serves as a handheld flashlight with a magnet in the end for attaching to anything metal.

Chimney sweepers
Durable flashlights with a narrower light cone, such as the WF26R work flashlight, or the PD series flashlights are suitable for chimney lighting and liner work. If you need your hands free, a dustproof headlamp from the HM range will serve best.

- Fenix HM70R - a powerful headlamp with a long-range cone for checking details and a wide cone for even light 'underhand' and over a larger area.
- Fenix PD36R PRO - powerful flashlight with a strong centre for illuminating details.

Painters
A natural light source that minimally distorts colors will be very important to you. The ability to adjust the colour temperature to suit your particular environment is also an advantage. The light should be soft, with no harsh centres or sharp transitions. And of course you need to be hands free, so flexibility of the attachment is another priority.
Selected recommended flashlights:
- Fenix HM71R - a powerful headlamp with a wide soft cone for even light plus a CRI 90+ colour rendering index.
- Fenix CL28R - work light with magnet in the handle, infinitely adjustable color temperature for different environments as well as infinitely adjustable brightness.
- Fenix HM60R - headlamp with a wide, soft cone for even 'under-hand' illumination over a larger area.
Builders
On the job and during site inspections and approvals, you need a light that perfectly illuminates every nook and cranny. Durable headlamps, E-series flashlights with a finer light cone and a space light that illuminates a large area are all suitable. WH23R, E35R, CL28R

These are the Fenix WF30RE, the compact Fenix WF05E both for explosive environments: zones 1-2 explosive gas and 21-22 explosive dust, and the WF11E for explosive environments category 0-2 explosive gas and 20-22 explosive dust.
Selected recommended ATEX certified flashlights:
- Fenix WF30RE - durable, compact, professional flashlight certified for zones 1-2 explosive gases and 21-22 explosive dust.
- Fenix WF11E - durable, professional flashlight with certification for zones 0-2 explosive gases and 20-22 explosive dust.

So which is the right one?
As in most cases, choosing the best flashlight is a matter of personal preference and you can't go wrong with either of the flashlights being compared.
