Fenix 18650 3400 mAh rechargeable battery with built-in USB-C charging connector (ARB-L18-3400U V3.0). It can be charged by connecting a cable to the USB-C connector (e.g., from a computer or a mobile phone charger) or in a charger that accommodates Li-ion batteries with a length of 70 millimeters. Li-ion rechargeable batteries feature a very high capacity, do not suffer from memory effect, and do not experience self-discharge. This new version of the battery is 2 mm shorter than the previous one. This gives it better compatibility with Fenix flashlights and headlamps compared to other USB-C batteries.

The Fenix battery protection consists of internal safety mechanisms and protective electronics. The added electronic circuits prevent overcharging, deep discharge, and short circuits or excessive current draw. If the battery’s electronics detect that a limit has been reached, it safely disconnects the cell.

The internal protection consists of a separator, overheat protection (PTC thermal protection), and a special anti-explosion valve. In case the gas pressure inside the cell exceeds a certain limit, the internal separator will separate the electrodes inside the battery, effectively interrupting the exothermic reaction, and the anti-explosion valve will release the gas pressure outside the battery. Thanks to the combination of electronic and mechanical (temperature and pressure) protection, Fenix batteries are among the safest available Li-ion batteries.

In terms of size, the 18650 battery is roughly equivalent to two CR123A lithium batteries, which is why it is often used in flashlights as a rechargeable alternative to these primary cells. Warning: due to its length of 70 mm and diameter, this battery may not fit some older models - for example, Fenix PD31, TK11, TK21, TK30, Zebralight, Solarforce. The battery is also not compatible with Fenix FD65 and Fenix TK47 models.

Charging via USB-C Connector

Plug the USB cable into the side USB-C connector. During charging, the indicator light on the top of the battery will glow red. Once fully charged, it will glow blue. When using a USB power source with a current of 1500 mA or higher, the charging time is approximately 2.5 hours.
